“A Woman’s Scream” is a kinetic sculpture that requires two participants to activate the experience. Participants enter a dark room and stand on either side of a glass pane with two window frames hanging from a pulley system. As they push the frames back and forth, sounds and images are generated in response to the resistance between the participants. For instance, pushing the frames together will result in a woman’s scream, illustrating the social constraints placed on women. If participants pull the frames away from one another, a song and butterflies will emerge as a result of allowing her freedom of expression.
