Mapping a community experiencing displacement
This team explored the coastal village of Sidi Abdellah Belhaj. This community, which has relied for generations on the sea for its sustenance and culture, is being separated from the water — first, by the construction of a wall and a highway, and eventually by their displacement to another location. Through interviews with community members, the team collected qualitative and quantitative data on marine life, fishing practices, health practices, craft, topographical features, and idioms. The team proposed the creation of a cart to replicate this research and produced a multilayered map of the collected data.
